The greatest gift that we have to give is love. That is why Jesus when shared his earthly life with us, he did so with a perfect love. This is so easy to state, however how do we become more like Jesus in our lives? How do we begin to change and grow in that perfect love?
First, we learn how to put on Christ. He is the image of the invisible God. So to put on God is to put on Christ. God is love. Christ died to share that love with all the world. His reason for a sacrifice was to show us the nature of His Father. The divine and true love of God.
Romans 5:8 “But God commendendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16 ” or God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ”
Romans 13:14 “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
Putting on Love: 1 John 4:7-12
7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
By putting on Christ we are subjected to be like him. Like a lamb lead to slaughter for the people that God calls you to. Loving others, everyone. Yet bold and fierce as a lion standing against sin by calling others out of it. This is putting not only Christ on but also our purpose, our call and function. Now that we are reborn of God we are called into the proper function like God has created us for. Most importantly we are not created like God intended us to be.
Secondly, We learn to operate in our calling as a regenerated human. This is not only a gift, birthed in love but also a responsibility to share or pass on the love. This next scripture is a perfect way of growing.
The Command to Love: John 15:9-13,17
9“Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. 10“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11“These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. 12“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. 13“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.17“This I command you, that you love one another.
Passing love on is not just respecting God and honoring him. It is spreading his love with arms wide open like Christ himself. Not dying in the physical sense but in many other ways. Laying down our lives by dying. Paul said it perfectly.
1 Corinthians 15:31 “I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.” When we begin to live in a daily sacrifice we live like Christ. By doing that, we have already put on Christ and walk after the Spirit. Ephesians 3:17-19 “17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”
When look into the fullness of God we are not only abiding in Christ and connected with God we are in the fullness of the Body. The church is important to function in love, without it the body is dead. 1 Corinthians 13 shows us in a personal sense that if we have no love we are dead. Everything that we have and are gifted with is dead. So in a unified body like we are if the church does not put on Christ, it is dead.
Now we get to the epidemic in todays churches. Churches that have been built on money, agendas, popularity, and prosperity doctrine have no spirit and no life. This in plain view is not the real church that is mentioned in Acts created on the day of Pentecost. This is the birthing of the Holy Spirit that was promised by Christ. Pentecost happens to mean 50 because its place happening 50 days after the resurrection of Christ. The Holy Spirit is not living within these churches because of there actually birthing. If we are not birthed through love and live in love God is not in us, nor modern day churches. Though many people know this and read their bible they still go to the same dead churched expecting salvation. This is the perversion that has taken over and ruled by demonic strongholds. This is the new Christ that is being preached.
The real Christ is being neglected! Come home to Christ by putting him on and living out your call from the Father in Heaven. God Bless
