Lets face it, not everyday do we feel our best and nor do we think confidently while going through so many things. Hey even if it is a good day I myself would have a not so positive out look on my life.
A couple things I want to share with you about “self esteem”
- Anything that has to do with “Self” is either motivated by God in a positive light or Ego, the mental faculty which can build up false fleshy thoughts, which could be very negative or highly positive thoughts that can lead you into fantasy, and more away from God. Our Esteem should come from Us knowing we are loved By Him
- Knowing we are Loved by Him maybe hard if you are not living up to a very esteem able life, so that may lead us to think very negatively and shut ourselves away from having the confidence to do the right thing. Remember you are what you say you are. Power therefore lies within the tongue. So Character has a lot to do with confidence, and we know that character comes from who you are.
So What exactly is “self esteem” and a “ego” or hey even the word “character” maybe some acknowledgement of these words would give us a more foundation in our understanding and confidence.
So self-esteem means “confidence” in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect.
So I made a statement earlier about our confidence coming from God. Well its really about having a relationship with Him that seals the deal. Did you know that? Our self worth, or feeling worthy of ourselves comes from having confidence in Him who promises you protection and favor. Having self respect is first and foremost because we need to know we are Loved by God and that we belong to Him. Which will later transform into love for ourselves and what we say, do, think and bring into this world, again all going back to our worship of God. Our abilities to serve and have purpose gives us a reason to want to share ourselves which later bring us in contact with others. This is how the body and network of God and in general works. Again actions of esteem will build Self in God.
An Ego means a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance, and the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.
As believers we have Identity in Jesus Christ, We are called Gods Children and we are also known as Saints, Beloved and Soldiers. A very small list of names that we are called. John 1:12 “he gave the right to become children of God” Jesus Christ gave us the way, and it is spoken clearly in the Gospels from Him and even later through the New testament. Ephesians 1:5 “He predestined us for adoption to son-ship through Jesus Christ”
We know now that Confidence now comes from within ourselves, right? Our own identity and self worth is based on what is coming from within. Through the Ego, and which is a part of our soul, or also known as psychi in greek terms. It is Also formed in Our Character. What does Character mean? the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. So again the inner reflection of who we are, comes from our connection with God and our relationship with Him. So How is that? How is our character in God, what are we reflecting? Is worthiness and your light reflecting God or has it been dimming slowly and really hard establish? If so here are some Scriptures.Tying using them to bring the word alive and have confidence with your Walk and Relationship with Him.
Philip. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ Jesus which strengthen me.
Hebrews 13:6-so that we may boldly say the Lord is my helper and i will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Habakkuk 3:19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my like hinds feet and he will make me to walk upon mine high places to the chief on my stringed instruments
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us
Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him
1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
2 Corinthians 7:16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things
What is Confidence?the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust. The state of feeling certain about the truth of something. A feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.
Are we having trust in the Truth? A firm belief in the word? Are We assured within ourselves because of who is in us and in our efforts and abilities?
